VHS on Beta are about on par with the fabulous glam bands of the 80s. Their debut album wasn't actually that great, more amusing than anything. There are about two quality tracks on the record, the other mostly instrumentals that seem a little out of hand and unnecessary. The talent is there, but it seems like the band is focused on imitating the music they grew up listening, taking the crazy guitars of Zeplin or Van Halen, and mixing it with a Robert Smith impersonation on vocals. But one of the quality tracks on the album was definitely number seven, Alive. It seems like all their strengths aligned on this track, showing the impressive nature of this group.
