Song of the Day: Neon Indian - 6669 (I Don't Know If You Know)

More chillwave this week, this time from one of the best new bands around, Neon Indian. It seems as if they appeared from thin air, with their debut album garnering plenty of buzz from almost all the critics. What makes this band interesting is the type of chillwave they produce. It's not ambient or noisy, no it actually has beats and flows, very electronic like. They album chugs along very fluently, so much so that it seems like its over as soon as it started. They've been touring plenty this past year, and plan to do some more when they embark on a fall circuit with Prefuse 73 and Miniature Tigers. If you're not familiar with them, you should check out one of their best, 6669 (I Don't Know If You Know).

Song of the Day: Baths - ♥

Just got back into the states after being taken hostage for a month by Somali pirates. First off, they're not even real pirates as they don't even have eye patches or peg legs. And two, how lame is it that they didn't even have wifi on the boat? Worst pirates ever. Anyways, been feeling the glitch-hop/experimental electronica lately, so today its all about Baths. Baths is a LA based one man project, another bedroom music maker. He's been lighting up the web with his debut album, Cerulean, which I would highly recommend if you're feeling a little adventurous. Todays track is ♥, which is not a glitch, it's actually the name of the song. Don't ask me how to pronounce it though.

Song of the Day: Washed Out - Feel It All Around

Ernest Green's project, Washed Out, really came out of nowhere last year; literally even so from the small town of Perry, GA. His debut EP dropped only four months after he started producing songs from his bedroom, and it immediately began to receive all kinds of attention on the Interweb. The first single of his, is today's song, Feel It All Around. This track continues the lo-fi synthpop feel he carries, as well as inspires a certain kind of nostalgia that I'm not entirely sure I understand. Definitely check out this track though, and hopefully we can see him get signed, as well as a debut album.

Song of the Day: Discovery - Orange Shirt

I'm back after recovering from a severe case of general laziness, hopefully with a song that you'll enjoy as much as I do. When you think about the idea of project consisting of one of the masterminds from Vampire Weekend, as well as the frontman of Ra Ra Riot, you'd think that sounds like a great thing. Right? I guess it just depends on who you ask. This experimental indie electronica group received a lot of buzz, and for some, that's all it was. The aptly titled LP, got reviews that ranged from brilliant, to "appalling." I'm of the crowd that really enjoyed the record, and I really hope the duo continues forward with this experiment.
